Senior Portrait Session in Old Town Helotes | Kylee

Updated: Jul 25, 2019

So. Many. Bugs. For those of you who don't live in Texas, let me just tell ya to thank your lucky stars right now that you won't ever have to deal with the insane amount of bugs I think Kylee and I both inhaled during this senior session up in Old Town Helotes! The humidity, cloudy weather, and overwhelming heat were a perfect storm for all kinds of nasty creepy crawly things. But Kylee (and her mom) were total champs! Despite all of those fun things, we got some truly amazing shots that capture Kylee's immense kindness and her stunning beauty!

I'd never been to Old Town Helotes before, but guys, it has a WINDMILL! Like an old fashion, honest to goodness, wooden windmill. That just kind of gives you an idea of what this cute little downtown area was like. There were cute signs and benches and watering cans all over the place giving the area a uniquely Texas feel I haven't found anywhere else in San Antonio! It had this adorable old fashioned building right next to rolling green fields with wildflowers that we got to play around in near the end of our time together. It was the perfect backdrop for this senior session with Kylee who has grown up in San Antonio pretty much her whole life (although she was adamant about not getting the windmill in the background of her photos. Dang!) Kylee plans on going to Brigham Young University (my alma mater, yay!) after serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She's going to be a fantastic missionary with her ability to touch people heart's that was so apparent to me during our brief time together. She'll sacrifice everything for 18 months to serve and love and teach wherever she is assigned to go. And although I'm sure it's an intimidating prospect for her. Kylee spoke about her upcoming mission only with confidence and enthusiasm with a passion I know will serve her well wherever she goes! She was such a light to have in front of the camera!

Speaking of in front of the camera, this girl was good at it! Most of my clients don't naturally feel comfortable in front of the camera and need a lot of coaching on hos to look and feel comfortable. Which is okay! That's what I'm here for :) But now Kylee! She started off our session by warning me she would have no clue what to do, but she was a natural! She's one of those people who are stunning inside and out, and it definitely shows in the camera! She just needed some gentle instruction every now and then, but then we could just focus on having a super fun time instead of worrying about hand placement and such.

Kylee, thank you for being such a joy to work with! You brought a little bit of sunshine and joy into my life on a day that was actually really stressful and hard. But you turned that right around with your contagious smile and your warm heart. I am so excited for you and all the amazing things the Lord has in store for you! He will use you to bless so many lives!
