Mountainside Family Session | Bostwick
Updated: Aug 15, 2019
WHACK!! I swear you could hear it on the opposite side of the reservoir. As the Bostwick family made their way across the parking lot to start our family session, cute little Josh tripped over his own feet and fell flat on his face. Forehead met asphalt, and the asphalt definitely won. There were some tears, some basic first aid ministrations, and more than a little stress about the possibility that the now bright red mark on his forehead would ruin the photos (not to mention put him in a bad mood for the entire session). Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm proud to pronounce that Josh Bostwick is made of sterner stuff than that! He was a STUD through the whole session and gave me plenty of smiles :)
After a few well-justified minutes of pouting, Josh threw himself into the session with an enthusiasm that has only matched by his big sister Leah! Leah loved all of the little games we played; the "Wiggle and Freeze", the "Red, Light, Green Light", and the "DogPile on Momma" were some of her favorites. Playing those games is probably my favorite part of being a family photographer, too. Whether it's with the little ones or with teenagers or with us adults who are still secretly little children in time, playing games and laughing ourselves silly is a vital part of our family sessions!
As adorable and fun-loving as little Leah, Jacob, and Josh were, their Mom is the light that shines the brightest to me. I knew Ashley when we both grew up in West Virginia, but we lost touch once I moved. Even as teenagers, though, you could tell there was something special about her. She had this light that reached out an d brightened the day of everyone she interacted with. And that light still shines out of her now, years later as a single mom. Life has thrown her SO many curve balls, but despite all of the difficulties and trials (and probably because of them) Ashley remains one of the kindest, happiest people I know. Her light has grown even brighter and I'm so grateful for our rekindled friendship!
Ashley has definitely passed some of that light onto her little ones. It truly was a joy to photograph their family session, and I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
